This week I have worked on this week:
Writing a proposal for the International Society of the Learning Sciences with the goal of presenting a poster related to the design and development of a Virtual Reality classroom that can be used to measure a learner’s engagement, attention, and executive function as they interact with instructional content. I am exploring how to combine eye tracking within a VR head-mounted display and EEG devices to better understand the nature of learner interactions. I am also exploring how this virtual classroom can evolve to provide experimental control of environmental distractors across sessions. Should this be done through random variables, unique software deployments, adaptive system design?
I have also been working on several AECT presentations. I will be presenting 4 topics at this year’s conference and am trying to create visually appealing slides that will stand apart from the rest. With this year’s conference being virtual and crammed into 13 minute micro-presentations it is more important than ever to convey a lot of information in a short amount of time effectively.
Lastly I am learning how to juggle the writing and dissemination of academic literature across multiple institutions and research projects. I have a lot of data that I can be looking at and am looking forward to discussing some of those data analyses over the next few weeks.
